Sustainability
Sustainability is a core corporate value for Peraqua and plays an important role in product development and corporate philosophy. Peraqua is expressly committed to safe, user-friendly, and sustainable pool operation and continuously optimizes its pool technology to ensure durability, efficiency, and resource conservation.
We are convinced that sustainability can be achieved by focusing on innovation, durability, safety, and quality. Our goal is to develop solutions for automatic pool operation and perfectly functioning water treatment that ensure long-lasting hygienic and impeccably clean pool water and have an above-average service life.
The Peraqua sustainability principles
Use of durable, high-quality materials
Our products are developed to have a long service life and consume as few resources as possible.
No environmentally hazardous or harmful additives
No potentially harmful substances are used in the production of our in-house brands Praher Plastics®, IBG® and Ocean®. These products are proven to be physiologically safe and therefore suitable for contact with drinking water and food. All raw materials used are tested in accordance with international standards.
Recycling and reuse
Our products are designed so that they can be easily dismantled and separated by material after use, enabling optimal disposal and recycling.
Energy efficiency
When selecting electronic products for our range, we pay particular attention to ensuring that the devices are equipped with the latest technologies that significantly reduce energy consumption.
Water conservation
We pay particular attention to ensuring that our products and solutions use only as much water as is actually necessary for safe pool operation.
Regional production
Our in-house brands are manufactured in Austria, which enables short transport routes and better control of production conditions.
For us, sustainability means long-lasting hygienic and perfectly clean pool water. We are working on this because it is our green promise to the environment and future generations.

The sustainability of Peraqua iQ smart pool and pool automation solutions
Our iQ smart pool and pool automation solutions - iQnnect and iQmfort - stand out from conventional pool control systems thanks to their sustainable features:
- Automatic backwashing: The system monitors the pressure in the filter tank and automatically initiates the backwashing process when necessary. This optimizes filter performance and prevents bacteria growth, reducing the use of chemicals.
- Intelligent pump control: The Ocean® pool pumps used (Inver iQ 300 and Vario iQ 150) are equipped with inverter technology and adjust their performance to the actual pool operation, significantly reducing the energy consumption of both the pump and the entire pool system.
- Smart water treatment: The smart water treatment systems of the iQntrol COMPLETE series automatically control pH and redox values and produce only as much chlorine as necessary. This results in a lower environmental impact due to reduced chlorine concentration in the water.
- Water level control: An automatic water level sensor prevents the pump from running dry, which extends the service life of the equipment.
- Water temperature control: The use of full inverter technology prevents high temperature fluctuations, saves energy, and results in noticeably quieter operation. The temperature of the pool water is automatically adjusted to a set target value thanks to heating, cooling, or automatic mode. Our smart heat pumps are equipped with a contact for external release. This allows, for example, the inverter of a photovoltaic system to take control of the heat pump. In this way, the solar power generated can be used efficiently to operate the heat pump.
The combination of energy efficiency, optimized water treatment, and automated maintenance makes our iQ solutions particularly sustainable options compared to conventional pool control systems.
What role does automatic backwashing play in sustainability?
Automatic backwashing plays an important role in sustainability:
- Optimized filter performance: Aquastar automatic backwash valves continuously monitor the pressure in the filter tank. If the pressure is too high, the backwash process is triggered automatically. This ensures effective filter performance over a long period of time.
- Prevention of bacterial growth: Regular automatic backwashing prevents bacterial growth in the pool water. This reduces the need for chemicals for water treatment.
- Energy efficiency: Backwashing is controlled by a schedule (e.g., every 7 or 14 days). However, if the filter becomes dirty before the next scheduled backwash, automatic backwashing is triggered based on the actual filter pressure. Additional backwashing processes are only carried out when necessary.
- Water savings: Demand-based backwashing means that only as much water as necessary is used for the backwashing process, resulting in lower water consumption.
- Extended service life: Regular automatic cleaning of the filter helps to extend the service life of the filter system, which conserves resources.
- Integrated safety: Automatic backwashing triggered by the Aquastar valve with SafetyPack function offers the best protection for the pool filter against overpressure. And in the event of a power failure during backwashing, the SafetyPack function interrupts the ongoing backwashing process and moves the valve to the “filter” position, preventing water loss.
These functions mean that automatic backwashing contributes significantly to the sustainability of Peraqua pool technology systems. Energy, water, and chemicals are saved, while the efficiency and service life of the pool system are optimized.
