Praher has been involved in the development and production of reliable, automatic 6-way backwash valves for over 50 years. Praher valves are pioneers for optimum flow values, above-average service life and low pressure loss. In the industry, Praher is also seen as the technological market leader in this respect. All research, development and production takes place in Austria.

Praher backwash valves are available in numerous versions: side mount / top mount, 1 ½“ / 2“ / 3“, 3,5 – 6 bar operating pressure.

Compared to manual backwash valves, automatic 6-way valves are very convenient, as the filter & backwash processes can be controlled and automatically triggered by the valve itself. Once the automatic backwash valve has been installed and set up, manual triggering of the backwash process is a thing of the past.

The Aquastar models

The Aquastar® backwash valves are a product series of automatic backwash valves for filter systems in swimming pools. They are primarily used in the upmarket private and hotel pool industry, as well as in the natural pool and aquarium sector. Their worldwide use and millions of applications speak in favour of the quality of this series.

Aquastar MP6
Ideal for control with PLC/PLC systems. Integration into smart home systems possible.

Aquastar Easy 2
Simple operation with integrated timer and optional pressure switch. External control possible. When pump monitoring is activated, the system checks whether the pump is switched on or connected before each backwash process.

Advantages of the Aquastar series

Compared to other backwash valve variants (e.g. bar valves, butterfly valve batteries), the Aquastar series is characterised by the following technical and economic advantages:

Gentle and efficient change of the valve position
with automatic switch-off of the filter pump. This protects the entire pool technology and PVC pipework and extends their service life.
Direct draining and circulation
of the pool water via the valve. This does not place any load on the filter.
Minimal pipework and space requirements
of the Praher PVC fittings and pipework allow easy installation in any plant room.
Pool control functions
The option of connecting other pool technology components to the Aquastar drive opens up further practical control functions. For example, level, pump and lighting controls can be easily implemented.

Safety functions

Safety is the top priority with the Aquastar® models. The valves are therefore equipped with the following functions:

Simple upgrade of manual backwash valves

The most widely used pool filter systems in the world are equipped with manual (6-way) backwash valves. But not all pool owners realise this: Manual pool filters of all common filter brands can be retrofitted with automation using our Aquastar® models and a suitable valve and pipework set. By upgrading to the Aquastar Conrol-P6 series, a completely automated, intuitive pool control system can be realised with minimal installation effort.

It's that simple:

Set the backwash valve to the ‘filter’ position and remove the emergency handle.
Place the Aquastar on the valve.
Tighten the screw using the emergency handle.
Remove the emergency handle and tighten the Aquastar cover.

Customised backwash valves

The colour and laser engraving of the manual or automatic 6-way valves can be personalised on request. The Aquastar® series allows personalisation of the software.
